I'm good with this.

This is a good 3 hour drive for me though.
Any couches available or should I grab a hotel.

I'm meeting with Scott, the owner of Highlander Games on Monday the 8th and we'll nail down final details concerning the event then.  I'm shooting for a true all-day event, basically 10am to 11pm or somewhere thereabouts.  If possible, I'd like to get 4 rounds of play in with the 4th round being a "playoff placement" round.  FYI - there will be some newer players in attendance so there will be a wide variety of skill sets.

Are you aiming for a tournament type event or a scenario type event.

My vote is for the latter.  We don't get many of these and I prefer to keep it to the one "super serious" tournament that Kevin puts on and having the other events be more casual.

Also I need a best guess on player count as we get closer.

I was thinking of a combination of both of those.  I'd like to tie it all together thematically and also give the newer players a reason for sticking around in the later rounds.  One thing I know for sure is that there won't be a bunch of special rules (if any).  Maybe a couple of minor faction specific tweaks for balance, but I'd like to keep the rules as close to as they are currently written as possible.

Greetings all, I apologize for not being more present in this thread the last few weeks, I've had a group of very big life events this past month that have diverted my attention elsewhere.  I'm going to post a structure for the event in the next week or so you all have an idea what to expect.  Again, accept my apologies.

No problem at all.  Glad it's still happening, and looking forward to it!

Got a question.  My tentative plan is  to go to NYC with the wife for a few days, but to take the commuter rail (or whatever you all call it) out to near there (and then back in the late evening).  What would be the best station to go to, and assuming that's not walking distance to the store, could someone pick me up?

I'll have to research the routes and stop locations, but I'm sure we can work something out.

Edit:  You're much more likely going to have to take a NJ Transit bus out of Port Authority on the West Side.  Hooray for bus schedules and such.

Exciting! "O the joy to not be the new chumps upon the sands of war. The orcs shall club newbies into properly shaped weapons of war. Just hoping they don't clubber me into a properly shaped target... aaaa what the heck! Let us embrace the nature of whatever may come our way, for it is war, and war is all around joyful" say the greenskins.

You playin' orcs.....nice.  You should try the ol' lot's of goblins and the occasional troll combo....It works really well right up to the point you play against Kevin....:)
Where's this shade, that you got it made?

If you are searching, the address for Highlander Games & Comics is:
119 Boonton Ave
Boonton, NJ, 07005
(973) 794-4001

Google Map Link

With a drive of only ~2 hrs 15 min, I am wrestling with driving down in the morning and back that night...  We'll see.

Travelocity shows no hotels in Boonton, but several in Parsippany, NJ, right down the road, just a mile or two away.  Here are some that stand out as good options.

Sheraton - 97/night with Travelocity discount, looks like a castle!

Days Inn - 89/night  *one left!*

Red Roof Inn - 74/night

If you search one of the travel sites, you will see many, many options within just a few miles.

I guess I've got a few days to decide...

Marcus, what are the hours that we are expecting to be playing again, please?
I see 10am - 11pm in a previous post above.  Is that firm?

OK, the reality of hitting the road at 7:30 AM is not attractive.
I'm going to book a hotel and share with Mr Stolar.
