Initiative
« on: December 22, 2015, 01:39:35 PM »
Make an initiative marker and set it beside the board. either player, during their turn, can "sieze the intiative" by handing the marker to the other player and taking two consecutive turns. Thereafter, the other player can use the marker to "sieze the intiative" by discarding it from the game.

Alternatively, the first player to "sieze the intiative" keeps the marker, but must achieve a decisive victory to win the game, all other results are considered a decisive loss.

You could play one version or the other, or allow the first player to decide by either keeping the marker or handing it to the opponent.

Or you could mix the two: always hand the initiative marker to your opponent when playing an extra turn but after calculating the victory conditions, shift the result one step towards the person currently holding the initiative.
