Tabletop Simulator mod with proxies
« on: August 26, 2015, 07:21:35 PM »
The Tabletop Simulator mod with proxies is ready to be released. All 15 released factions are in the mod.

If you're interested in playing, please see this thread.

User guide. Please run through Tabletop Simulator's tutorial to familiarize yourself with the controls a bit.

There are three files for download (updated to v3.1 release5 on 9/14/2015)

Tabletop Simulator mod: Save this into "\Documents\My Games\Tabletop Simulator\Saves" and rename this to "TS_Save_#.json" where # is the first available number starting from 1.

Saved chest items: This has all of the cards, tokens, etc. saved individually to your Chest so you can access them more easily.  Extract this to "\Documents\My Games\Tabletop Simulator\Saves"; everything should automatically go into the Chest folder.

Cached images: All of the images used by this mod. Having this makes the mod load much faster and prevents the very unlikely scenario where my public Dropbox folder gets locked out for a day. Extract this to "\Documents\My Games\Tabletop Simulator\Mods"; everything should automatically go into the Images folder.

If you have a previous version of this mod, you need to delete everything in the "Images" and "Models" folders in "\Documents\My Games\Tabletop Simulator\Mods".

New version (v3) is out!  Things I've added:

  • Terrain! (they're proxies, and I don't have all of them, but still :D )
  • Dice tower!
  • Fixed a bunch of mistakes! (I forgot to include Italian Swordsmen, lol)
  • Increased the resolution of the cards and units! No more blurry text!
  • Included digital counters for those who can't do combat math (me)!

I just want to take a moment to say thank you, to Bohan, for doing this! I am waiting to have a spare moment to jump in...I may not come up for quite some time.  8)

Also, as an old guy, I'm a little leery of my ability to navigate through the set up, though the instructions seem pretty clear, what am I waiting for again?

I've finished the first draft of the user guide. Take a look here and let me know if things make sense :).

Okay, so I'm pretty much out of my depth here. When you say save to this folder... That means I need to create that folder and then save the program how?

Was there something I'm supposed to download first so that this mod can then run in it?

Ah, help.

I think once you download Tabletop Simulator and run it, those folders would be created.

New version is up. Mostly moved things around a bit, and fixed Goblin Bomb-Chuckers.

I made some updates to the Rome and Carthage units. You do not need to download the mod again, but you do need to refresh your cache (if you've already downloaded the mod). You have two choices for updating this.

Option 1: Download the new cached images, and extract them to "\Documents\My Games\Tabletop Simulator\Mods".

Option 2: Go to "\Documents\My Games\Tabletop Simulator\Mods", and delete all of the images, or just the Rome/Carthage unit images. The game will download the new images next time you use those units.

Release 5 is out! Go update your files! New features:
  • Rest of the terrain
  • Quick reference cards (menu -> rules also has the full list of keywords)
  • Fixed Alexander and Persia cards

Zelc, if your bored and perfection is your goal, some Lash chits for the Orcs would be awesome!

That's a good point, I'll think about the implementation. In the meantime, you can use the Extra Dice chits.

BTW - If I have a saved game and then update the files, will the game be okay?

I'm almost 100% certain the answer is yes.

If someone's playing Alexander or Persia, you may notice some slight differences in the unit images.

The latest update to Tabletop Simulator added some nice functionality for us  ;D :

1) You can now draw on objects by locking it. This isn't needed for the current implementation, but makes an implementation with boxes and w/o tokens potentially viable.

2) There's now a "sticky" setting: objects with sticky raise all objects on top of them when you pick them up. This means you no longer have to joint tokens to the cards, which is a huge improvement :). However, this doesn't work with rotation so I'd still recommend jointing.

3) You can now grab objects where your cursor is, instead of having the object's center jump to your cursor. This makes measuring much much easier.

4) You can roll dice from the right-click menu :D.
