Battleground 3.1 Rulebook

Alexander vs. Persia version

Wuxing version

Other than the front page artwork, the credits, and the kickstarter supporters, both versions are identical.

Why does the Wuxing cover page say Historical Warfare?

Because I didn't proofread the rulebook.   ::)

I suppose one could argue that Fantasy Warfare is a subset of Historical Warfare and since the rulebook has Skirmisher rules then technically...but...yeah.  :-X

Because I never even looked at the Wuxing version.  I only looked at the Alexander vs Persia version.  Ah well.  Probably something that can be fixed in the electronic version.  I imagine there'll be other typos that made their way through the process.

I only bring it up so that we can take advantage of the printing delay to make a small but major correction.

I think I found one...

2.5 Rout Movement, refers to (1.4.7.6), which is "Disrupted Units", I think it should refer to (1.4.7.7) "Routing Units".  This is in the Wuxing rule book, haven't downloaded the Alex / Persia one.

That is one of the hardest things to proofread for. You can proofread for typos and what not, but actual citations must be read close enough to determine whether or not the correlation is correct. Hopefully, other gamers are as astute as you and can realize the mistake without twisting the intent of the rules. Fortunately, this is a minor simple errata that can be corrected with a pen in ones own rule book, which is a plus to not having a rulebook that you pay $49.99+ for!  8)

Yep, and I've found a couple as well.  Sigh  I remember begging people to proofread before it went to print, because I was sure things had been missed.  Its just too bad that we couldn't get a fraction of the scrutiny then that we'll be getting now.

I don't know if things can be fixed now that the files have been sent.  It might be possible, I simply don't know. I'll email Chad and hopefully he'll have the ability to fix it.

As an aside, I didn't take it as criticism.  I understand, and we'll probably have to issue an errata (an actually honest to god one, not a bunch of rules changes posing as errata).

 ;) I'm guessing I wasn't around or privy to that or would have given it my best shot.  Only reason I found that one was Laurie and I were resolving a rout after combat through friendly troops.

I have to say,  except for a few minor mistakes, the rule book is very well written,  and seems almost "ahem"  friendly. Good work people.  I will momentarily stop my bitching.
