Rulebook
« on: June 08, 2019, 10:13:17 PM »
I can't seem to find the last version of the rulebook (3) anywhere. All that's on the main site is 4.0, and I'd like to play a game with the older rules because I'm familiar with them at the moment. If anyone has a pdf of it, could you upload it to bgg?

Also, the 4.0 rulebook isn't a searchable pdf... For a 150 page document, being able to search for a specific word or phrase is crucial IMO.

Yeah, we replaced it with the most recent rulebook.  I'll see about getting you a copy.

As for searchable, it looks like we lost that functionality when we ported it over.  I'll ask my graphic designer to take a look at it.  I'm planning on finalizing the rulebook next week for the printer.

Thanks!

Without knowing the exact workflow of the graphic designer, I think it should be possible to export a PDF containing text (as the current one is using full-page pictures instead).

Yeah the pdf we have now was for the prototypes (which didn't need that functionality), so we skipped it with the intent to come back later.  And "later" is now. . .

(or maybe soon from now).

I've OCR'd a copy of the V4 Rules to make the PDF searchable. I haven't checked the accuracy completely, but a few quick searches would indicate that it seems pretty good. I can provide a copy if anyone is interested?

I got a copy of 3.1 and posted it to the BGG file page for battleground. And I used an online tool to convert the 4.0 rules to searchable, but the result was 100mb so I can't post it anywhere.

Hey, I think it was me who gave you the 3.1 rules the other day  :)

My OCR'd version 4 rules are 19.8MB so I could post them somewhere.

So it was! Thanks again.

The upper limit for BGG files is 20MB I believe, so yeah you could upload that to their file page, especially if you zip it.

BGG are preventing me from uploading the PDF as I don't have permission from the publisher.

If you want to email it to me, I'll post it up.  Or if you want to start a thread about it, I'll publicly say "I give you our permission to post this."

Thank you for making the current rulebook searchable!
